About – Adria Nabekle

III Hitoshi Miura

Having studied theater both in Switzerland and Paris, worked on several television sets in Europe, I developed my visual skills as well as my sense for color, scenary and framing.

In 2017 I founded Calanca Biennale which produces for each edition, a landscape installation in gneiss stone, a catalogue, a children’s book for migrant kids, as well as a poster contest.

WALK THE WALK.

ADRIA IS A WOMAN OF HER WORD.

WHAT DISTINGUISHES ADRIA’S WORK IS HER ABILITY TO TRANSFORM A REMOTE ALPINE VALLEY INTO AN OPEN-AIR CULTURAL DESTINATION WITH GLOBAL CULTURAL RESONANCE.

Adria Nabekle - In search of a sense of aesthetic

– After graduating, in the 1980s, I embarked on a journey in search of my “Shibui”, my personal sense of aesthetic refinement, an infinite journey that continues to this day.
– My path began with three years at the Dimitri Theatre School in Switzerland, where I studied under the guidance of teachers rooted in the Czechoslovak theatrical tradition.
– This was followed by studies at the Alain Knapp Theatre Institute in Paris, where I specialized in theatrical improvisation and the analysis of dramatic performance.
– With the boom of video technology, I quickly began both studying and working at a leading company in the field, specializing in industrial advertising and classical music production and documentaries about theatre history. My primary focus was editing where I worked as assistant to a well-known Spanish editor.
– I worked primarily for the company and as a freelancer across several European countries including Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, France, Principality of Monaco, Spain, Portugal and in neighboring Morocco.
– This was followed by several years at the Swiss National Television studios in Zürich, where I specialized in live editing for experimental broadcasting programs exploring new approaches to editing techniques and audiovisual language.
– During my years in video and television, I furthered my training by attending the “School of Eye and colour” under the guidance of Italian professionals as well as studying editing at the Rundfunkschule in Nürnberg.
– After leaving television, I founded the Calanca Biennale where we initially focused on exhibiting sculpture and photography. Following the pandemic we added landscape art and poster design competition.
– Meanwhile, with Calanca Biennale, I attended the Bottega della Narrazione in Milan to learn the rules of writing.
